Looking for car insurance?

Posted by AudiMobiles.com

Ah, car insurance - you can’t stand paying for it every month; you can’t get away with not having it. And really, it would be unwise (read: incredibly stupid) not to have insurance. Okay, I don’t mean to be belligerent here; perhaps you have a perfectly valid reason for not having auto insurance coverage, although I personally can’t think of any.

Today I came across this web site at Money.co.uk which is aimed to help you choose the right car insurance and is called “Top 20 Car Insurance Quotes UK”. I was surprised to see the variety of options this site gives. You can compare the best car insurance quotes available in the UK, find the cheapest cover for your car and save with the right deal in minutes.

It’s interesting to see what ‘categories’ they offer:
- Car Insurance Discounts
- Car Insurance For Students
- Car Insurance For Women
- Classic Car Insurance
- Over 50 Car Insurance
- Performance Car Insurance

From all these you can choose what is best for you as they offer you to search the leading car insurance providers around for a car insurance quote that provides you with quality cover for less.

Audi developing GT3 R8 customer race car

Posted by AudiMobiles.com
Audi’s motorsport division has announced plans to launch a 500hp-plus (373kW) version of the R8 for use in next year’s GT3 series. The new car has been designed for private customer teams and fully conforms to the production-based GT3 regulations, which means they will be allowable in numerous national and international competitions.

Because the GT3 regulations prohibit the use of AWD the Audi R8 comes with a modified RWD powertrain and a newly developed six-speed sequential sports gearbox. The suspension is almost completely stock, with most of the modifications affecting the car’s aerodynamics package. A modified front end and a large rear-wing generate the required downforce for the race track.

The R8 race car, which bears the project name ‘R16’ within Audi’s motorsport division, has already conducted its first shakedown test this month at the hands of Audi factory driver Frank Biela. The cars are now scheduled to enter production at the Györ plant in Hungary and are expected to start delivery to customers in the first half of next year.

2009 Audi Q5 by ABT - The Five Wows

Posted by AudiMobiles.com
When the engineers and designers with ABT Sportsline intend to tune an SUV, you can be sure that the result will be an extraordinary vehicle. That has been the case with the Touareg, AS7 and Tiguan - and that will be continued with the new ABT Q5. The elegant crossover vehicle is by concept a premium model in the category of compact SUVs, but “such a wonderful car always spurs us to create something really special,” says Hans-Jürgen Abt. The managing director of ABT Sportsline emphasizes that it is about “blending our philosophy with the character of the car.” With the ABT Q5, this worked perfectly: The Allgäu SUV is fast, beefy, sleek, extravagant, extremely versatile - and therefore evokes five wows.

The ABT Q5 is impressing, harmonic and superior from every angle. The front skirt with the integrated underride protection finds its equivalent in the rear skirt, which, in a very elegant way, also hides the tow bar extendable for use. The mighty front grille, the fender extensions and the dynamic door strip attachments form a unit. The rear wing, the 4-pipe-rear muffler and the BR wheel rim in size 20-inch also fit in optimally into the elegant overall picture. The ABT Q5 is indeed a car for all occasions: No matter whether in front of a luxury hotel or a beer garden, this vehicle fits in everywhere.

The Q5 follows its bigger brother from Kempten, the AS7, suit: the “S” in “SUV” means “particularly sporty”. A genuine ABT always has significantly more power, even more so when all four wheels are powered. The two diesel engines sparkle with energy: thanks to ABT Power, the 2.0 TDI delivers potent 190hp (140kW) instead of 170hp (125kW). The 3.0 TDI delivers the most powerful performance for the ABT Q5: with ABT Power S, it achieves 310hp or 228kW (Series: 240hp/176kW) on any terrain. Particularly impressing: its maximum torque of 610Nm. Also the 2.0 TFSI is suited perfectly for the SUV from Kempten: thanks to ABT Power, 211hp (155kW) are turned into sporty 240hp (177kW).

When a power upgrade is made, suspension and brakes, too, have to be adjusted to the increased power. That is why Abt is offering a fine tuned package for the Q5: suspension springs, lowering of the car’s center of gravity or also the well-proven ABT Level Control, an electronic lowering for the CDC air suspension (Continous Damping Control). Regarding deceleration, the ABT sports brake system provides for a maximum of safety, which meets the increased requirements: the brake disks with a diameter of 380mm are strong enough for the fast SUV - and behind the 20-inch-wheel rims type BR or AR, they also look extremely good.

The ABT Q5 is going to be available within the first quarter of 2009.

Efficiency and performance for 2009 Audi A6 facelift

Posted by AudiMobiles.com
Joining the new RS6 Sedan at this October’s Paris Motor Show will be the 2009 model year facelift for the standard A6 Sedan and Avant models. Among the list of updates planned for the new lineup is a range of more efficient engines, significant suspension refinements, the addition of a number of safety assistance systems, and a new-generation MMI interface.

Changes to the new lineup’s styling include a revised single-frame grille, restyled bumpers, larger air vents and new-shape fog lights. The optional xenon and LED daytime running lights package has also been updated, with a new adaptive light, dynamic cornering light system, and a high-beam assistant to automatically switch between high and low beams also available.

At 4.93m long, 1.86m wide, and 1.46m high, little has changed in the sedan’s proportions. The gentle lip on the trunk, integrated chrome strip on the bumper, broad diffuser and straight exhaust pipes complete the list of changes at the rear. There are also five new exterior colors to choose from.

Inside, the cars receive an updated instrument panel, new chrome trim and optional Valcona leather for the seats. The sporty S-line package is once again available at launch, coming with 18in wheels and a 30mm lowered suspension kit.

The most significant upgrade for the 2009 facelifted A6 is without doubt the new range of engines. New measures have been introduced to optimize fuel consumption without sacrificing performance, with fuel economy over the whole A6 family being lowered by 15%. The improvements are brought about by the addition of a power steering pump that operates on demand, an alternator that regenerates electrical energy when the vehicle is coasting, a lowered ride-height and other aerodynamic fine-tuning. Also new is Audi’s latest valve lift system, which manages the inlet valve timing for improved torque levels.

The smallest petrol engine is the 2.0L TFSI, a 170hp (125kW) turbocharged four-cylinder unit. At the other end of the spectrum is the 4.2L FSI, a 350hp (257kW) V8. The other petrol units include two new 2.8L FSI engines, developing 190hp (140kW) and 220hp (162kW) respectively, and a brand new 290hp (213kW) 3.0L V6 TFSI supercharged mill. This latter engine comes standard with tiptronic auto and quattro AWD, and is capable of accelerating from 0-100km/h in 5.9 seconds and on to an electronically controlled top speed of 250km/h. Fuel consumption rates in at 25mpg (9.5L/100km) for the mixed cycle.

The new diesel lineup consists of entry-level 2.0L four-cylinder TDI with 136hp (100kW) and is followed by a 170hp (125kW) version of the same engine. Next up the line is a 2.7L V6 TDI with 190hp (140kW) and 280lb-ft (380Nm of torque), and this is followed by a 3.0L V6 oil-burner with 240hp (176kW) and 332lb-ft (450Nm) of torque. The most fuel efficient model is the 2.0L TDIe (efficiency model), which rates in at 44.4mpg (5.3L/100km) for the mixed cycle.

Audi quattro four-wheel drive is available on all engines with 190hp (140kW) or above and is standard equipment on high-end aggregates. Other mechanical changes for the 2009 A6 lineup include new large-diameter front-axle shock absorbers and modified spring rates.

The facelifted Audi A6 will be available in European showrooms this October and will start at €34,200 (approximately $51,020) for the 2.0L TFSI sedan.
